Other ways of using foam...

Foam can be used in various ways and is an easy and quick way to add something extra to your costume.

See the other post about foam for a more detailed guide on how to work with the material.

Below a few examples on other things made with foam.

This headgear with curls are made by twisting the foam using the heatgun
First you cut some long shreds in the foam, afterwards twist the foam around a stick and heat it with the heatgun, and then you will have long nice curls.
Place the curls on the hat using a gluegun and now you are done!

Make a template of paper. Then place the template on the foam and cut it out.
With this mask is the horn made as a spiral with the heatgun.
Additionally you can choose to add eyelashes to your mask, cut them out in another colour foam and glue them on by using the gluegun.

The foam can also be used to decorate a jersey. On this picture is the foam cut into triangles and then placed on with a gluegun. A very easy and quick way to make a costume.

Mask and headgear with foam..

This is what you need:
Foam
Heat gun (which is normally used to remove old paint)
Paper
Gluegun or contact adhesive

How to:
First you make a template in paper.

Afterwards you place the template on top of the foam or draw it on the foam, after that you cut it out.

A heat gun can be used to warm up the foam, in order to make it soft, and after that you can shape it as you want. If you don't have a heat gun, a hairdryer can also be used.

For example with this mask. The noseshape is made by heating up the foam and after that placing it on your nose to shape it. The flamepoints on the mask are also twisted after the foam has been heated.

Another idea could be to use a swimming cap. It can be decorated in many different ways. Long pieces of foam is glued on the cap, as you can see in the picture. This creates a huge and effective headgear. This particular headgear only took 1,5 hour to create.
