Other ways of using foam...

Foam can be used in various ways and is an easy and quick way to add something extra to your costume.

See the other post about foam for a more detailed guide on how to work with the material.

Below a few examples on other things made with foam.

This headgear with curls are made by twisting the foam using the heatgun
First you cut some long shreds in the foam, afterwards twist the foam around a stick and heat it with the heatgun, and then you will have long nice curls.
Place the curls on the hat using a gluegun and now you are done!

Make a template of paper. Then place the template on the foam and cut it out.
With this mask is the horn made as a spiral with the heatgun.
Additionally you can choose to add eyelashes to your mask, cut them out in another colour foam and glue them on by using the gluegun.

The foam can also be used to decorate a jersey. On this picture is the foam cut into triangles and then placed on with a gluegun. A very easy and quick way to make a costume.

Feather

Feather is available in many colours, shapes and sizes, and is an attractive way to decorate your costume.

For instance with a Charleston costume, wings (of an angel).

Hats or even fake eyelashes. The easiest way to operate with feathers is by gluing it on the costume or the accessory, but it lasts longer if you have the time and desire for sewing it on.

It could be in connection with an alien costume or a cats costume.

Nemo-costume

Create a nice nemo-costume.
This costume is made from flamingo plates. The plates are placed together in the sides, after that you make room for yourself between them. There is in this case used foam to the tail, after that is the fabric sewed around. The tail is added with an iron spit.

Complete your costume with a hat. The hat can be made in many different ways, but an idea can be to measure the circumference your head, and cut to half circles, in the half of your heads circumference. Sew the the two half circles together and decorate the hat with eyes (as shown in the picture).

Marabou-down

This down can besides being used to a tutu-skirt, (see the entry on tulle, where the down is added as extra feature), can this type of down also be used to make an animaltail.

With an animaltail will the easy solution be to tie a lot of knots in the end of the down. Additionally you can chose to use your sewing machine or a needle and thread and take a piece, and sew it on top of each other again and again - after how thick you want your tail to be.

You can also chose to use the down to a nice angel costume, both on the skirt, the wings and on the halo.

The marabou-down is available in different shapes and colours.
